Look up any 10-digit Mexican phone number and get its **current carrier with number portability applied**, whether it is **mobile or landline**, and the **state and municipality** of its numbering range, in one call.
## What you get
- **Current carrier, not the original one.** More than 80 million Mexican numbers have been ported. Every lookup is checked against the number portability database, updated daily, and ported numbers also return the previous carrier.
- **Mobile or landline.** Since 2019 Mexican numbers carry no mobile prefix, and libphonenumber returns `FIXED_LINE_OR_MOBILE` for all of them. This API returns `tipo`: `movil` or `fijo`.
- **Location.** State, municipality and locality of the numbering range, plus the CPP/MPP modality.
- **Dialing formats.** National, international (+52) and from the United States.
- **No guessing.** If a number is ported to a carrier that cannot be identified, `operador_identificado` is `false`.
- **Area codes.** `/lada/{nir}` returns the states and municipalities served by any Mexican area code.
## Common uses
- Route SMS and calls by the real carrier.
- Pick the right carrier for airtime top-ups.
- Clean contact lists before SMS or WhatsApp campaigns: drop landlines and unassigned numbers.
- Validate sign-ups: the number exists, is mobile and matches the declared region.
## Example
`GET /telefono/4521158653` returns `MOVISTAR` as the current carrier, ported from `TELCEL`, mobile, in Uruapan, Michoacán.
