What is the Mexico Phone Carrier Lookup API?
Current carrier of any Mexican phone number with number portability applied, plus mobile vs. landline, state and municipality.
Mexico Phone Carrier Lookup API is available on the JoJ API marketplace. Subscribe with a single JoJ API key, call it through one gateway, and pay from one wallet — no separate account or contract with the provider.

Returns the current carrier of a 10-digit Mexican number with number portability applied (and the previous carrier when the number was ported), whether it is mobile or landline, the state, municipality and locality of its numbering range, its CPP/MPP modality and ready-made dialing formats. If the current carrier cannot be identified, `operador_identificado` is `false` and `operador` is `DESCONOCIDO` instead of a guess.

Returns the states and municipalities served by a Mexican area code (lada, 2 or 3 digits) and how many numbering ranges it has assigned.

Frequently asked questions about Mexico Phone Carrier Lookup API
Does it return the current carrier or the original one?
The current one. Every number is checked against Mexico's number portability database (more than 80 million ported numbers, updated daily). When a number was ported, the response also includes the previous carrier (`operadora_anterior_corto`). If the number was ported to a carrier that cannot be identified, `operador_identificado` is `false` and `operador` is `DESCONOCIDO`, so you never get a guess.
Can it tell whether a Mexican number is mobile or landline?
Yes. Since 2019 Mexican numbers carry no mobile prefix, so libphonenumber returns `FIXED_LINE_OR_MOBILE` for every Mexican number. This API looks each number up in the national numbering plan and returns `tipo`: `movil` or `fijo`, plus the state, municipality and locality of its numbering range.
How fresh is the data?
The number portability database is updated every day with the new ports (around 40,000 numbers a day, roughly 1.2 million a month). Numbering ranges, carriers and locations come from Mexico's official National Numbering Plan (CRT, formerly IFT). Use the `/status` endpoint to check the service and the size of the loaded data.
