How is usage counted?

One credit per request, flat, on every endpoint — unlike the official API's per-endpoint quota units. Note that pagination is billed per page: walking 10 pages of Search results with pageToken is 10 requests, not 1.

Do I need a Google Cloud project or a YouTube API key?

Accepted Answer

No. Authentication is a single X-JoJAPI-Key header issued from your JoJAPI dashboard. There is no project to create, no OAuth consent screen and no service account to manage.

Is this the official YouTube Data API?

Accepted Answer

No. It's an independent service, not affiliated with or endorsed by Google or YouTube. It deliberately mirrors the official v3 resource model — same resource names, part semantics and pagination — so existing code ports over with a base URL and header change, but it is a separate product with its own pricing and availability.

Can I upload videos, post comments or edit playlists?

Accepted Answer

No. Every endpoint is a read operation on public data. Anything that writes, or that requires a channel owner's OAuth grant to their private data, is out of scope.

Question 5

What do 401, 402 and 429 responses mean?

Accepted Answer

They come from the JoJAPI gateway rather than the upstream API. 401 means the key is missing or invalid, 402 means you're out of credits, and 429 means you've hit your plan's rate limit. Other status codes are passed through from upstream.
